It’s going to be an explosion of color at the Lisa Blue swimsuit show in South Beach.
Australia-based designer Lisa Burke is showing her new swimsuit collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in South Beach.
Burke says she used her imagination to create prints that range from a galactic theme to a peacock feather photo, which was turned into painting and used as a print.
“It’s like an explosion of color,” she said.
Burke also created prints inspired by an Australian Aboriginal painting, which was made by an artist who is a member of the Whale Tribe.
“I do my best to honor and respect the Aboriginal people and to be generous to make sure they are taken care of,” she said.
For the galactic theme, she has put metallic panels of gold and silver on the suits as well as metallic studs. There are even some Sci-Fi cutouts. There is also a print by artist Jean Luc Bozzoli.
She created a lot of bodysuits, which she says can even be worn with jeans. Another hip design are bikinis with high-waisted bottoms.
Bikinis start at $180 and the average price for a onepiece is $200-$250.
For colors, think blues, purples and black.
“We’re trendy. We’re fresh. We’re cool,” she said. “Interesting, unique, very feminine.
Some bathing suits are glamorous, some are beachy.”
And she also has an answer to competition from lower priced mass retailers.
"There are some nights where you want to go have pizza and some nights you want to go to a nice restaurant. And Lisa Blue is the nice restaurant," she said.
